The Eurobot Competition
The Eurobot (UK)
Championship
took place at the Middlesex University, Trent Park Campus on Friday,
2 May 2008 and was won by a team of students from Middlesex University
who also support the event by providing prizes for the winner and
the 2 runners-up.

The winning team:
Created
in 1998, Eurobot is an international amateur robotics contest open
to teams of young people, organised either in student projects or
in independent clubs. Eurobot takes place in Europe ut also welcomes

In 2008, 27
countries, represented by 400 teams, will be involved in this science
and technology contest, through its national qualifications and
the international final that will take place in Heidelberg, Germany.

Championship
This event has been held at Middlesex for the last four years, it
involves teams of two students building small autonomous robots
to compete in a 90 sec televisual competition. This year’s
theme was entitled ‘Mission to Mars’.
The winners
of this event will represent the UK in the world finals in Heidelberg,
Germany 21-25 May 2008. They have also been presented with cash
prizes generously donated by MUTR.

On
Thursday 3rd April 2008 MUTR appeared on the BBC1 hit show "Beat
the Boss ". The challenge for both the teams, kids and adults
was to design, build and market test a new type of air powered,
re-usable rocket. John & Glyn from MUTR appeared on the show
providing design guidance and practical advice. After construction,
the rockets were both tested here in the grounds of Middlesex University.
